“Requesting a facilitated IEP meeting means something has gone wrong.”
MYTH!
A facilitated IEP meeting doesn't necessarily mean there is a major conflict or that someone has done something wrong.
Sometimes a team simply recognizes that an IEP meeting may benefit from a neutral person helping everyone communicate, stay focused, and work through difficult topics.
A facilitator isn't there to take sides or determine who's right. The goal is to help the whole team participate in a productive meeting.
